A proud history and a confident look into the future

The annals of Uzbekistan are full of events that have defined the present day and future of the country. Uzbekistan Airways was established in 1992. This event marked a new era in the process of formation of civil aviation of the Republic of Uzbekistan. During this time Uzbekistan Airways brand has become known and recognized worldwide as a stable, safe and reliable air carrier.

Uzbekistan Airways performs scheduled, charter passenger and cargo transportation, including low-cost Uzbekistan Airways Express. The structure of Uzbekistan Airways also includes the following companies: “Uzbekistan Airways Sales” LLC, “Uzbekistan Airways Technics” LLC, “Catering” LLC, “Training Center” LLC, “Uzbekistan Helicopters” LLC and “Silk Avia” brand. 

On January 28, 2024, Uzbekistan Airways celebrated its 32nd anniversary. Looking back on the way passed, one can make sure that each year has been no less fruitful than the previous one. The growing economic potential and image of Uzbekistan's civil aviation is a clear proof of this. The airline has something to be proud of. Modern comfortable airliners of Uzbekistan regularly carry passengers to more than 70 destinations. In 2023, the airline carried 5 million passengers. Pilots of Uzbekistan operate such aircraft as Boeing 767, Boeing 787, Airbus A320ceo/320neo/321neo, L-410, ATR-72. Their skills and potential are well known in the world and highly appreciated by international organizations.

“Uzbekistan Airways” JSC was recognized as the world's best operator of Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. According to the results of 6 months (December 2016 - May 2017), Uzbekistan Airways JSC showed the best result in the world among Boeing 787 Dreamliner operators in terms of accident-free operation of Dreamliners, ensuring 100% safety and regularity of flights on this type of aircraft, for which it was awarded by Boeing Corporation for successful, accident-free operation of this type of aircraft.

Today, Dreamliners successfully operate flights from Tashkent to New York, Seoul, Tokyo, Jakarta, Dubai, Istanbul, Frankfurt and Moscow.  On July 27, 2017, for the first time in history, Uzbekistan Airways performed the first non-stop flight on Boeing 787 Dreamliner on the route Tashkent – New York – Tashkent.

Over the past years, many major projects have been implemented in the industry. The ground infrastructure of airports has been modernized, the aircraft fleet has been completely renewed and new aircraft have been mastered. New routes have been opened, new terminals and air terminals with high capacity have been built, and advanced technologies have been introduced.

Modern mini air traffic control centers and a new air navigation system have been put into operation at the airports. Every airliner in the skies of Uzbekistan is under constant control of highly qualified dispatchers of the “Uzaeronavigation” Center.

All 10 airports of the republic have the status of “international” and are provided with reliable and perfect screening equipment. Modern passenger terminals are equipped with all amenities and equipment meeting international standards. At the capital's airport, Uzbekistan Airways' Business Lounge, a departure lounge with a higher level of comfort, is at the disposal of passengers.

The International Intermodal Logistics Center, established on the basis of Navoi Airport, is one of the largest and most high-tech air cargo complexes in the region. Today it connects Uzbekistan with the main logistics centers of Eurasia – Ostrava, Bucharest, Xiyan, Foshan, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Tianjin, and Shenzhen.

“Every passenger is important to us!”. This motto remains always relevant in the activities of the “Catering” company, which provides delicious food on board airplanes. Every year more and more high demands are made to the quality of on-board meals, and the team is constantly working on the quality of food, improving the process of its preparation and menu.

In the international aviation services market there are more and more customers willing to cooperate with Uzbek Airline in the field of aircraft maintenance and repair (MRO). Thanks to its own aircraft repair base, the national air carrier can independently and qualitatively maintain the airworthiness of its aircraft and provide aircraft MRO services to foreign airlines.

At the air enterprise “Uzbekistan Airways Technics”, which performs all kinds of maintenance and repair of aircraft of various modifications, including Boeing 787 Dreamliner, the Center for repair of composite materials was created, which opened great perspectives in the development of the activity of this enterprise on repair of modern aircraft.

The airline has created its own base for training, education and advanced training of its personnel. The Training Center has a professional teaching staff and a modern training complex, in which 24 hours a day, 7 days a week training on procedural and full-featured simulators is carried out. All courses conducted at the Training Center are approved by the administration of the Republic of Uzbekistan and are conducted in strict compliance with ICAO and IOSA standards.

The plans of the national air carrier, which are the largest in the CIS, demonstrate the dynamics of development and progress of civil aviation in Uzbekistan.

Realization of these projects in the near future will bring Uzbekistan's civil aviation to a qualitatively new level, ensuring its status and image in the international arena. The airline's team is aimed at leadership in the air transportation market. And, of course, the highest priority in its activities, as before, will be to ensure the safety of flights and passengers, remaining true to its criteria – stability, reliability and comfort.
