Uzbekistan Airways resumed first flight on the route Tashkent – Kuala Lumpur – Tashkent

Today, on November 1, 2022, Uzbekistan Airways made first flight on the Tashkent-Kuala Lumpur route. The journey that has been waited for two years and lasted more than 7 hours, 175 passengers were delivered to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport on the A321Neo aircraft captained by Farhod Latipov. The aircraft was traditionally greeted with a water arch.

It was organized a ceremonial welcome event for the first flight from Tashkent to Kuala Lumpur at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport. Representatives of the local airport and airline, tour operators, mass media and passengers took part in it. It was noted that Uzbekistan Airways has resumed flights to Malaysia, at the same time citizens of the two countries can travel between two countries directly on regular flights, which is a great opportunity for passengers. It was also mentioned that this flight helps the tourism field of Uzbekistan and Malesia to make a progress. 

The resumption of flights to Malaysia had been announced this year at the event dedicated to the development of tourism between Uzbekistan and Malaysia in Tashkent. The flight’s resumption was planned with the participation of Malaysia delegation, tour operators, hotel owners, civil servants working in the field of tourism and medical tourism’s members in autumn of current year.

“The setting-up of direct flights between the countries is a great opportunity. As the pandemic recedes, flights to many cities are being resumed. This year, a number of routes to Europe and today another route to Asia were reopened. Airline company plans to set a number of flights in the autumn-winter season”, Ilhom Mahkamov “Uzbekistan Airways” JSC’s Director says.

Relations between Tashkent and Kuala Lumpur had been established since the first years of independence. Uzbekistan Airways started to fly Kuala Lumpur in 1992. Over the years, flights between two countries have been serving the development and experience exchange of economy, education, medicine, technology, tourism and many spheres. This regular flight lets the flow of international tourism increase and gives an opportunity to Malaysians to visit the pilgrimage sites in our country.

Starting from November 1, 2022, Tashkent – Kuala-Lumpur flight will be operated twice a week – on Tuesdays and Fridays and Kuala Lumpur-Tashkent flights on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
