On May 7, 2023, Uzbekistan Airways held a solemn ceremony to welcome the second Airbus 330 aircraft at the Tashkent International Airport named after Islam Karimov.
The airliner was welcomed at the capital airport with a traditional water arch. The Ministry of Transport, the management and employees of Uzbekistan Airways, representatives of the media, and aviation spotters were invited to the solemn ceremony of the aircraft‘s arrival.
In 2022, Uzbekistan Airways carried more than 4 million passengers. As part of the concept of expanding the aircraft fleet and achieving tasks to increase the route network, the decision was made to lease two Airbus 330 aircraft.
Airbus 330 is a long-haul aircraft designed for 266 passengers. The cabin includes 18 seats in business class and 248 seats in economy class. The range of this type of aircraft is up to 12,000 km, its length is 58.37 m, and the wingspan is 60.3 m.
The first Airbus 330 aircraft was received on April 21 and is currently operating regular flights on the Tashkent-Istanbul and Tashkent-Dubai routes. The second aircraft of this type is also planned to be used on these routes.
