The fleet of Uzbekistan Airways will soon be augmented by two wide-body Airbus A330 aircraft, acquired on a wet lease. The airline first began operating this type of aircraft in April 2023.

These aircraft are designed for long-haul flights exceeding four hours. Initially, the planes will be used on routes from Tashkent to Istanbul, with future plans to expand to Jeddah and Seoul. They are equipped with Rolls-Royce Trent 700 engines. The inaugural flight is scheduled for May 20, HY281/282 on the Tashkent - Istanbul - Tashkent route.

The agreement for the supply of two Airbus A330s on a wet lease was signed between Uzbekistan Airways and Qanot Sharq. For the duration of the one-year lease term, these aircraft will serve passengers in a special blue livery, distinct from the classic livery of Uzbekistan Airways.

"The decision to acquire A330 aircraft was made as part of the airline's development strategy and Uzbekistan Airways' plans to expand its flight geography and increase the frequency of existing routes. Our goal is to consistently grow each year to maintain Uzbekistan Airways' status as one of the most reliable and safe carriers on the international stage," noted Chairman of the Board of Uzbekistan Airways, Shukhrat Khudaykulov.

In the shortest possible time, the two Airbus A330 aircraft will commence service for Uzbekistan Airways' passengers on regular international routes.
